What's her job?

In my "Circles" story I have the wife as the central character but so far all I have is her name "Chanel Winton." Well, a little more than that but that is all I have written in the story.

I know she is married.
I know she is of African-Asian descent.
I know she is in her early twenties.
I know she is about 5'5" (165 cm).
I know she has what I describe as a "cute figure."
I know she is very pretty.
I know she has jet black curly hair that goes down just below her shoulders.

But what does she do for a living? She is going to be very involved in a world outside of her normal experience (thinking paranormal) but does her life experience and job prepare her for that in any way?

Try doing a "day in her life" journal. Maybe a "to do" list?

Not a bad idea...

5:00 am she gets up, showers, gets dressed and starts breakfast for both her and her husband.
6:00 am she wakes Brad up, they eat breakfast together then she takes the family dog and walks to the town post office.
7:00 am she picks up the mail then stops at the town clinic to...

Got it! Her primary job is a medical transcriptionist and she also does voice over work for audio books!

I could say her figure is because she is so young but maybe she is also involved with a local dance troupe for the towns "Haloween/Harvest" festival. Or maybe she is a Sunday School teacher for the 4-6-year-old kiddos at the church.

How's that? Too much or not enough?

It's better to have too much, then you can weed out the least important information. I've been hearing a lot about "the rule of three." You might want to check that out too.

The rule of three can work in all aspects of writing. In the plot, in the descriptions, in any bit of info you want to share about the characters, what's in a scene, etc.

That works!

And seriously, you'll probably discover more about her when you get deeper into the story. Or just have a chat with her in your mind when you're very relaxed. She might tell you about her childhood, or her dreams, or her first love... emoticon

I have a problem... I have a pic which shows the skin color I think Chenele Winton has but I don't know how to describe the color tone of her skin...

Uh. Honestly, I wouldn't know, either. I don't usually describe skin colors unless they are ... err... unusual. Slightly racist here, maybe.

Almond comes to mind. Maybe reading some make-up ads would help... don't use that, either, but they have fancy names for skin tone.

Run it through one of those color programs? emoticon Nevermind, I tried that and failed.

That's okay, I have an idea now on just what the story plot is going to be and why she is involved.
