Adventure...

I ran into a hymn which defied me to place into the topic index of my song book. I spent some time creating a list of scripture verses related to the hymn then had to walk each scripture through the topic filter until I found three categories which were proper for the project. The challenge was doing this with a hymn that is still under copyright which says the hymn sites won't even touch it. I had to do all the research on my own which gave me a very satisfied feeling when I was done. emoticon

Yay for that feeling of accomplishment!

I hope you can use the hymn even with copyright. emoticon

growing experience!

I made some small adjustments to my "shower scene" this morning. My first try had me going too minimalistic to ensure the idea of "this isn't sex" in my own mind. Thanks to the discussion we have had concerning the scene I was able to add a little more detail without crossing over into that area of concern. emoticon

A fun thing to do... I decided things can be whatever I want them to be. Sooo... I came up with the idea of having my little asteroid look kinda like a cup of coffee with a huge dollop of whip cream on top!

Journey?!? I just read an article where one author created 17 drafts of the same story before he was happy!!!! That is a lot of editing.

Dear gods!

Don't ever do 17 editing rounds on your story. Truth is, you'll always find something to fix if you want to.

Get it into a good shape, give it to a handful of beta readers, take their feedback very carefully, do one final editing round and then publish the whole thing!

You'll learn much more by writing the next story than by going over the same old one again and again.

Time drain?

I am actually looking forward to starting on my Circles story. With TABA I get stuck at times and do odd things to get me going again. When I start on Circles it will mean the first draft of TABA is done so when I get stuck with the Circles story I can edit some on my TABA story. emoticon

Slowly creating new habits to help me progress as a writer.

Rewriting and creating ever new drafts is a serious waste of time. Personally, I believe that going over the same story again and again will not yield many improvements after the first few rounds. Pareto rule, if you wish.

And everyone grows more with the next story.

I like your idea to write Circles when TABA has reached the editing stage. Switching really does help with blocks.

Ongoing process...

Today I had to figure out what the Moka Star System looked like by planetary orbits. I had to work out what the orbits of the main system objects were and how far they are from the systems sun. Once I did that I had to update the TABA story bible so I won't goof up later on...

Today I did some exploring on my TABA spaceship and made some updates to the story bible.

I also found a place in my story where the new ship's captain (currently in the Life Sciences hospital) was referred to as a Command bridge officer when she wasn't. So I had to edit that scene to fix the mistake...

Organizer, I was getting myself confused trying to keep track of two characters with the same first name so I went and changed one of them. Of course, this meant I had to edit the December and February posts then I had to fix the story bible as well. Hope I got everything.

Unplanned event!

In February I started a scene but didn't finish it. So I edited both the February post (to remove the unfinished scene) and the March post (to give me a place to finish the scene). emoticon

It happens. It is quite hard to keep everything in mind.

When I went to do the "final edit" on Betrayal, I found a place where I had just written in "xxx - something happens".
 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That something developed into a fun little scene, but it sure stumped me for half a day. What in the world was I thinking!

Running in place thing. You change things around but the story doesn't actually advance much. I reworded three scenes which make them read nicer to me but the stories word count only changed by TWO words!!!!
