Re: "Here There be Dragons"
Awesome, five-star review for Here Be Dragons - just in today.
I sent out a couple of review copies, and this is the first result. YES!
This book contains a wonderful collection of short stories with every mythological creature one ...

Re: "Here be Dragons"
Reviews are so critically important, especially for indie authors. Many promotion sites won't promote a book if it doesn't have a minimum number of reviews. And I find that they are really, really hard to get.
Plus people do look at them. I actually make a point of looking at the worst reviews when checking out a new author...

Re: "Here be Dragons"
Yeah. I don't just go by the best reviews. I check out the others as well. I mostly go by the blurb and summaries though, and my gut.

Re: "Here be Dragons"
I've also learned the hard way to check the reading sample.
Sometimes, the blurb is good, the cover is good, the reviews are overwhelmingly 5 stars - and then I find the writing is in present tense and horrible.
I've gotten really picky...

Re: "Here be Dragons"
Yes. I am a lot pickier with indie-published works than traditionally published works. So, I do take a peek inside the book, or check out the author's website for excerpts and free short reads.

Re: "Here be Dragons"
And another, awesome review for "Here be Dragons"!
quote: Ms. Steenbock's book doesn't disappoint. 'Here be Dragons' is wonderful. I don't think I could pick a favorite story. She takes you through a wonderful fantasy of laughter and tears. It was impossible to put it down once I started reading. I would absolutely recommend this book to any fan of fantasy and dragons.
Steenbock's doesn't disappoint. Here be Dragons is simply a wonderful book
I'm still on a full 5-star average.
Happy Dance!

And I had another sale after that.
These last 10 days have been better than the last 6 months.

Re: "Here be Dragons"
Thanks!
And sorry your computer was mean to you.
"Here be Dragons" had its first sale for the Nook recently. It's my only book that's not Amazon exclusive. I'm trying to see if it's worth it.

Re: "Here be Dragons"
I don't really like e-books, even the Kindle versions for some reason. But I do like the "print on demand" idea that I ran into a week ago. The e-book seller had a option to have the book printed and mailed to me at roughly the same price I would have paid for the book in a traditional bookstore.
Do you have that as a option for your books Firle?

Re: "Here be Dragons"
All my books are available as print, through CreateSpace, which is Amazon's print on demand arm. They are printed and delivered through all Amazon stores.
CreateSpace is working to make those books available in bookstores, but practically all of the big chains boycott CreateSpace.
For some of my books, I even have it set up that you can get the ebook for free when you buy the print.
