The Castle Picture

This is actually a real castle, which has been renovated by now. I chose an old picture, to make it look more fantasy-like (and to avoid copyright issues). When I was a little kid, my parents used to take me and my siblings there for Sunday afternoon walks.

If you want to see what it looks like now, check this link:

Heh, it's not exaxtly near by. It's about six hours away by car, more or less in the middle of Germany.

Yes, because you have lots of pictures of UFOs at work... all those that buzz your satellite, that you're not supposed to talk about.

I was thinking of using lenticular clouds in the background for the "almost eerie" effect. I don't have time though to find a pic that matches things right...

Also, I see three pictures here (thanks, Google!):

I kind of like the last one, actually. Just because it's a little different looking. But I'll leave it up to the Photoshop pros to figure out what would work best.

Do we have photoshop pros here? Well the latter two images are fairly classic type UFOs of reasonable quality. emoticon

I guess if I run in to a spacecraft pic, I might try linking it as well. emoticon Try and expand the options further, assuming I do run in to anything...

I have an image of a neat spacecraft, and I obtained permission to use it. I just won't post it here, because it is copyrighted.

However, I'd be grateful for any help to put it into the picture. Graphics programs tend to make me cry, pull my hair out and wail for help. emoticon

Well you could, but I used that one because it already had a "invisible" [sign in to see URL] it would match whatever I inserted it in. emoticon
The only difference I can actually do is make that UFO larger or put it in a different place.

Firl because the image you want to use is all white it sticks out like a sore thumb. I colored it. I also had to shade it with dodge/burn to give it some depth since the castle has shadows/highlights, or it would have been noticeably two dimensional.

It also makes it blend with the rest of the pic a bit better if it's tucked behind one of the existing elements. Per your instructions I put it over the MA text. It might look better tucked behind the castle though as putting it behing the text meant that I had to do some creative coloring of the text to give enough contrast for the letters to be visible. I think I'd rather the "Mystical Adventures" stand out on it's own. So maybe move it to the left and tuck behind the castle. This is what I have so far.

I'm thinking a bit smaller might balance the image better...

Bane, I agree that the ship could probably be a bit smaller, but I am in awe at your imaging skills! Well done! The shading/lighting especially impresses me.

That's really great work on coloring it and I agree as well, it probably should be a fair deal smaller, especially there it is pointing downwards, as it is now I keep having the feeling it'll crash some time real soon now.

Oh yes, I'm not sure if the white highlight on it is placed correctly. Considering where it is on the castle, are you sure it shouldn't be more towards the forwards section?

I'm sort of limited in where I place the highlight. The original artist indicated lighting from above and slightly to the left. It could be done, but is alot more work than I'm willing to do. Simply moving the shine would lose the dark areas beneath the top deck, and you would lose some of the depth in the image (If that makes sense). I'll try to move it more to center while reducing the size of the glare a bit.

When I reduce the size I'll try lightening the ship a bit which should make it appear farther away.

I don't like the spaceship being a part of the background to the board name so if it was me I would either make the spaceship smaller or move the board name down a bit. Actually I would probably do both and then compare the two to see which one I liked better...
