Another cloudy day.

That is not a surprise. Kiel Week starts this Friday, and traditionally, we have bad weather during it.

I'm fairly certain the summer will return end of June. emoticon

This is going to be a busy week, but I'll do my best to keep writing 1k+ words every day. I can tell it massively improves my mood.

The big thing I did yesterday was to buy a bag of potting soil and lugging it home. That was... hard work. I didn't have the energy left for repotting any plants after that, but it's on the list for this week. My balcony certainly makes me happy.

Wishing you a great day and much writing! emoticon emoticon

It rained last night. Which is good. It's cold and cloudy today. I hope this is not the end of summer yet. (We have had several years with summer weather in May and then only rain for the rest of the summer.)

There's a dying seagull in the yard, lying in the grass and twitching. It's been going on since yesterday morning. I think it ate rat poison. I feel sorry for it and hope it'll die soon. *sigh*

Yesterday, I participated in a Profit First call. That was very inspiring, and I'm now considering creating three packages for author coaching. (And raising my prices until they are ready.) I really need to position myself as an author coach - and not for writing but for mindset work. I haven't seen anyone do that yet.

Wishing you all a wonderful day with happy writing!

When I came home, the seagull was gone. I hope someone put it out of misery.

I brainstormed a bit yesterday, and now I have three packages for coaching author mindset. And I have some criteria which is good for what kind of author (mostly depending on experience). Not sure about the prices yet... but I do need to pivot my marketing and learn how to spread the word efficiently.

I had a meeting with a Dutch EFT buddy - we're in the same boat, defining our niche and trying to drum up business - and then I had a little Zoom meeting in the evening where I did EFT to ease limiting beliefs on raising prices. (I need to raise the prices of my books, too.)

Writing happened late in the day again, but once I got started, it went well. 1k words in about half an hour. I like that.

And I want to teach others how to do that...

Wishing you a lovely day! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: 2018 Chat

Yesterday was a mix of good and bad for me.

On the plus side, I feel better about the financial dilemma I fought with last week. Now, instead of a solid wall, it feels more like a fog bank which means I don't see the total solution yet, but there is a path forward.

Runboards CSS weirdness interfered with me on the creative side as I kept trying things on my end to work around what was going on. In a strange way, this problem contributed to my "Transit Promises" story so even if my writing output was low I still had enough to make me feel like I am getting back in the swing of things.

Today is my crunch day and the middle of the month. My mini-goal is to match what I did yesterday in writing and post the new skin design I have been working on for the past two weeks.

Glad that financial dilemma is starting to dissolve. I hope you'll find a solution, soon. emoticon

At least the Runboard trouble served as inspriation. That's something...

I'm still sticking to the 1k per day, although it was hard yesterday. I'm starting to notice that I do worse on days with little to do. I will have to increase my todo lists - looks counterproductive, but hours of scrolling through FB are depressing. Ahem.

I'm also making a decision on my general EFT site. I will finish a series I started there, then I will write one good-bye email, and delete that entire list. Might even make AWeber a little cheaper for a while.

Definitely pivoting into author coach now. Need to get marketing...

I'm also choosing writing priorities: Dragon Prey for now, to give my dragon world a boost. Then Zell. I want to start the Joanna pen name with a bang, aka a rapid release of that trilogy. Then the Exterminator, the Minotaur rewrite, the Artemis story, then more dragon stories. I have a second novella series planned... so many ideas. I'll be busy for years, which is exactly the way I love it.

Wishing you all a happy day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have company all weekend, and IIRC my niece will have her ten days off this week, so will be working on Mom's place so she can start the renovations. Plus, will probably have yard sales next weekend. So hoping I don't have to go to Mom's this Winter ... And hopefully this will be my last few months of feeding Mom's cats.

I had time to kill before my house guest got home from school, so I stopped by the bank to inquire about opening up an account just for online transactions. I can open an account with $[sign in to see URL] in it, but I'm a tad bit apprehensive about doing that. I don't want a lot of money in there in case it is hacked ... or ... I can open an account with nothing in it and pay a $[sign in to see URL] a month charge. If push comes to shove, I guess I'll have to do the former.

Firle: And then I figured I should ask you how you get paid for your books. Do they send you a check? Do they deposit into your PayPal account? Do they deposit into your checking/savings account? Do they have the option to pay by check? All sites, or just certain ones?

I figured that if I started to earn steadily, I could open an account with $[sign in to see URL] in it, but until then that's just too much to worry about someone stealing. emoticon

Another difficult day, but I managed 1k. The showdown battle is raging. So far, it's going well for my side, but that's about to change...

Jox, Amazon pays me by direct deposit into an account, as does CreateSpace. They have no lower threshold, and they have paid pennies, three months after earning the money. No fee. Draft2Digital also pays via direct deposit, but they have a threshold of $10 for international transfers. I can live with that.

I have one account where I receive all business payments. I pay a monthly fee for it. Europe no longer does checks, so that's the best way for me.

]Kiel Week started yesterday, and that meant a lot of noise wafting up from downtown. At least the wind only carried the sound of one band - that will change. Also some kind of fair machinery, a kind of ride that made people scream went on until after midnight. *sigh* I assume some people living downtown actually flee town this week.

It's both a huge festival and the biggest sailing event of the world. Sadly, it has changed and most of the really fun things - local artists, projects where you could participate, small theater groups, etc - have disappeared, and it's all been commercialized. I tend to skip it. But for those who like crowds and bands, it's a great festival. Lots and lots of free concerts.

Happy Writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jox: The time will be right. Until then, keep working. And dreaming.

I lost myself in the interwebs yesterday, following some research. But I did write, and I got a nap. So that's good.

Back at work now.

"Dragon Prey" is almost done. I wrote 7,500 words this week, which is quite awesome. I only wrote more in the week I visited my Dad. (Which is why I want to change my environement and life-style.)

Wishing you a wonderful week and much writing. emoticon emoticon

I am livid because of policits. Won't go into this, but I cannot believe we are watching the rise of another Nazi regime these days. Yes, I believe it is coming to that. The degree of normalization is stunning.

In good news, I finished the "Dragon Prey" story. Editing will commence, then I will need beta-readers. I have a cover slot with my favorite artist, Christian, so that shouldn't be a problem. I hope I can publish this in July/August.

This, in turn means I need to decide on the next priority. Realistically, there are two choices:

Konrad II, which only needs a few more chapters. Then I could buy new covers for both books and give my German author presence a boost. Problem will be cover backgrounds which should show Göttingen, the town where it takes place.

Zell III. The trilogy is mostly done. Covers will be a problem, unless I find a really great designer who can hit genre and subgenre easily. I'd love to give Joanna a running start with a rapid release in fall, possibly October. Not truly likely, though.

Of course, there are other stories crying for attention, and I want to give them some time, as well... Minotaur, Artemis and The Exterminator.

Another dragon novella series next year...

Even so, committing to writing 1k words per day is making it both much more fun, as well as much more likely to publish more books per year.

Come on, join me. emoticon

Happy writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

LG made several critiques on my slap together RB link-to-us graphic. So, I spent the past couple of days doing my best to create a more professional version of the image. Any other attempts on my part will depend on the type of response I get on the new picture.

That's quite some dedication, Rick! Thank you for that work.

Long day, yesterday, with an awesome client session in the afternoon. We're done for now, after five sessions. She's very happy with all the shifts in her life - and think she's looking much better, prettier and more relaxed. I love being able to help clients this much. Ahem.

I talked about my class in a FB group (got slapped about that during the night, ouch!), and I might have a taker. She told me about an error in the video, so I quickly recorded a new one yesterday night. The sound quality is atrocious, so I'll have to do it over. I found out that there are quite a few authors familiar with EFT, however, so maybe my niche is less hard to market than I thought.

The video I recorded this morning also has a rather horrible video quality. I don't know what's happening. I need to fix this. Zoom used to be reliable. *sigh*

Now I just need to release that guilty feeling about committing a no-no without even wanting to offend. *another sigh*

Planning on a nap today, a session from my Buddy and the usual writing. Not up to more.

Have a wonderful day and write! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Blergh. Yesterday was a mess.

I cancelled a meeting with a friend (we would have walked in the park in beautiful weather) because I needed a nap before a session with my tapping buddy.

And then the buddy cancelled. Repeat this mess today...

And threads on FB blew up, and I had to set up my blog and write, and educate people about Nazi propaganda, and support another writing friend, and ... well, by the time I managed to reach my 1k, it was 11:30pm.

And then there were fireworks, just as I tried to fall asleep. Kiel Week. I'm sure they went on for half an hour, at least. So I'm once again running on a clear sleep deficit, and it's been going on for longer than I like.

Dental appointment tomorrow, root canal work session #4. *grumbles* I hope that this dentist can get it all cleared out and done. Tooth has been grumbling all week.

Wishing you a good day, and happy writing. emoticon emoticon emoticon

So yesterday, all the stuff that I *had* to do disappeared. My friend didn't want to walk in the park (it was raining a lot). My buddy cancelled our session (for good reasons).

And suddenly, I was able to write earlier in the evening and actually get a full night's sleep, for the first time in weeks.

That feels good. Self-care... feels good.

Today, I have to go to root canal appointment #4. I hope that the specialist can actually fix it this time around, although there will be at least two more appointments with the specialist, and then more with my normal dentist to put a crown on that tooth. *sigh*

Yes, I'm scared. emoticon

My characters are playing with my mind. The Exterminator is becoming something other than Dark Urban Fantasy. I'm having almost slapstick moments in it - yes, it works, it's comic relief. Even so, it's still fun to write into the dark with it.

Wishing you much writing and a happy day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: 2018 Chat

Hi guys! Sorry for disapearing yet again. Spring is always so crazy, everything must be done now.
Dad had to go back to work but they're now starting an hour earlier so we all have to get up at five. Then Mom and us girls rush down to the garden to work for threeish hours before it gets hot. A tiny break before morning chores to cool off. Then chores and lunch. After lunch it's fencing time until almost evening chores. When chores are done it's make supper, eat it and crawl off to bed, where you lie awake boiling half the night. Repeat the next day... emoticon
But I should have a bit more free time now. Most of the garden is in, just a bit of transplanting left to do. Then it's just mulching and weeding. And we got the field we were fencing finished, much to the sheep's delight. So now in the afternoons we'll build some portable chick pens and start working on a different field, but at a more relaxed [sign in to see URL] hope.
Weekends have been spent rushing in to town to shop, or visiting my Grandparents (Grandpa has gone down hill a lot.), or visiting with my brother, or having my other Grandpa visit. emoticon
All the company has left for the moment and we didn't have to shop this weekend so has been very relaxing. emoticon emoticon Also the weather has cooled which feels lovely! We've been hitting almost forty, which for this time of year is crazy hot! And when we do hit it later in the year I'm not sure it's for as long as it has been, almost all of June has been hot.

Anyways I just wanted to let you all know I'm still here. emoticon I hope life is treating you all good and Pastor Rick I'll try to do some on your story this week but I don't want to promise just in case something comes up.

Trying: Thanks for looking in! I totally understand how spring challenges any farming home. Glad you got the fencing done, that must be a huge relief. It's hard work. And hitting 40C is... ugh. Very hot. Glad it's cooling down so you no longer have to boil at night.

All the best for your writing time. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had a relaxing day on Friday, despite the root canal. I was a bit late getting going, however, and had to rush (and run a little) to catch the bus. That was rather horrible.

The root canal work itself was easier than I thought. I didn't get any numbing, and I had three little moments of pain when the specialist reached the bone (going through the roots). He cleared out one canal my dentist had missed, and there is one left to fix - which will happen on Thursday this week. The specialist is confident he can do this and save my tooth. So that's good. I have a final appointment in two weeks to finish the process. Then my normal dentist will put a crown on that tooth. It is going to be a very expensive tooth...

After the appointment, I walked to the beach and had lunch on top of a cafe/restaurant which offered a nice view of the regattas happening because of Kiel Week. After the meal, I strolled through the Kiel Week area there but found nothing really exciting, so I eventually took the bus home. Got home around 4pm and was quite simply exhausted.

Saturday, I had a client session and took it easy most of the day, and on Sunday, I slept a LOT. I managed to sleep in until 9am, which is very rare. I also repotted a few plants. My balcony is getting very nice. In a few more days, most flowers will be in bloom, and I might take pictures then.

The wather was cloudy with a bit of rain all weekend. Of course. It's still cloudy today, but it's supposed to warm up again this week and be sunny. I would like that. It's barely 20C at the moment.

Wishing you all a happy writing day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Work really is taking too much time, considering all the things I want to do. I'm planning to create my first online class, a simple thing building on the 30 Days Inspirational Writing email series that I created a few years ago. That might actually go away after that. Not sure.

I need to find the time to edit Dragon Prey and ask my cover designer for a draft.

Yesterday, I came home, relaxed a bit and then crashed. When I woke up, my buddy wanted to give me my session righ away. It was a good one, releasing another very old memory and pattern.

Then I tried to record the video for tomorrow's newsletter, got stuck on FB in political discussions - still trying to WARN, WARN, WARN..., looked at Teachable (very unsatisfactory, they don't tell me how it works) finally managed to do the video, cooked a late dinner, wrote 1k, and crawled into bed.

Wishing you a good day, with easy writing and fun. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I feel your frustration Firle. My plate is overloaded as well as I try to deal with some problems in my church, plus work, plus personal finances, plus a genuine need to take a holiday and recharge my physical and emotional batteries.

I am noticing this with others and wonder if this phenomenon (whatever it is) is a universal summer event!

Rick: *hugs* I think it's also tied to political developments all over the world. They take an emotional toll. I hope things will calm down for you soon.

On the other hand, I had a really, really good day yesterday. I finished setting up today's blog and newsletter yesterday morning, which is practically unheard of. I'm very much a "last-minute-gal" (which is stressful and something I want to change).

I had an online meeting and took time off after that, just enjoying my balcony for a little while and actually reading. Ran a load of laundry (can't do more than one at a time), then cooked a meal that turned out rather yummy. Writing was easy (used the timer, wrote 1k words in 30 minutes), and was done with my day at 8:30pm. I felt very free, happy and satisfied.

I love that feeling. I want more of that. emoticon

Beautiful weather here. Almost no clouds, little wind, comfortable temps, not too hot. Love it!

I had a fairly relaxed day yesterday, took the time to get groceries after work, then idled on FB for a while. Got my writing done in record time, recorded video for today's blog, and enjoyed time on the balcony. I'm also brainstorming new ways of marketing my stuff.

For example, I want to take a screenshot or two of my word-count file of this year. Show the differerence in production earlier this year (when I was writing every day) and now that I acutually committed to writing 1k every day. It's huge, and yes, it partially happened because I use EFT tapping if I hit resistance.

I also want to write a little scene about Dorelle giving birth to her first child - from the PoV of Mashira. This will be very cute, and only my subscribers will get to see it. (I wish I had more than the measely dozen.) I might do that today.

I signed up for a webinar from Teachable, which is tonight. I hope I can learn a lot - creating online classes is also a very easy way for passive income, IF I market it well enough. Since I like teaching and I like recording video, it should be easy.

So yeah. Stuff happening. Good times.

Happy writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

You know, talking to myself feels weird. So feel free to join in.

Another day of beautiful weather, and the weekend is supposed to be the same. Yay!

Writing happened in a quick spurt yesterday. I also created another graphic for my class (still no takers), and took a nap.

I'm planning the rest of the year - probably being overly ambitious - but I want to publish "Dragon Prey" in August. Then follow through with the Zell trilogy in October/November. And finally publish the revised Minotaur in January. That means I need to add editing and formatting to my daily work load.

Next year... hopefully the new dragon novella series "The Cloud Lands Wars", and the Artemis tale. That would be plenty for a year, anyway.

Oh, and the Exterminator trilogy... I may keep writing that and do another rapid release in 2020. Goodness. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Anyway, that's the kind of thinking I'm doing now. I may have to up my daily wordcount a little, as well. Maybe I should aim for 1,200 starting in July. emoticon emoticon

Wishing you lots of happy writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow sounds like you all are crazy busy as well!
We got the tomatoes in, a cow calved, we have a wedding to go to, and my sister and brother-in-law might come for a visit so things haven't slowed down here either. emoticon emoticon

I saw you posted in the Practice Hall, Firle. I'm scared to touch half written stories, so maybe when it's done I can look over it for you? Unless getting critiques while writing a story doesn't bother you? It kills my stories but everyone is different.

I hope you get your holiday, Pastor Rick!

How are you doing, Jox? I hope your sorting is going good.

I'm doing well. A severe storm took out my electricity for about seven hours last night, so I went through two of my storage containers. I counted how many pages I had written in the notebooks. (I counted the front and back and as one individual page, so one notebook page equaled two pages.) I had between 300 to 400 pages total. Most of the pages have an individual lesson/exercise, but a few of the lessons/exercises run to two or more pages. So that's a pretty good size for a book, I would think.

I don't know why I keep putting off typing them up so that I can organize them into categories on the computer. See which ones need more work, and edit them into shape. I just don't feel that it's ready for edits yet. I want to add more stuff first.

Hi Trying!

Your farm is in full swing! Congratulations on the calf.

The Exterminator is on the back burner. I would like some feedback on voice (I love it but find it hard to maintain), and the general story idea. A detailed crit would be way too early.

I have added to the story (I mean, I wrote more, but didn't post it), but the thread is really messed up, because I also put the end of the book into it. Not sure what to do with it...

Jox: Typing them up and editing them is a different process from adding to them. Maybe you can "de-couple" those? Give yourself permission to put them into a more managable format to edit?

It seems you are stuck a little, but it's not quite clear why yet.

I was lazy over the weekend. Lots of FB, lots of balcony time, Sudoku, naps... it felt good. And I wrote quite a bit, 1400 words on Saturday, and almost 1600 words on Sunday. Taking my laptop to the balcony really works.

I'm starting to plan my next release, giving myself two months to get it all ready. Which means I need to go and book advertising now. (Which feels utterly scary. Deadlines are... terrible.) The book needs editing, beta-readers, formatting (ebook AND print), as well as a cover. I'll be busy.

But this week, I also need to do tax prep work. *sigh*

Wishing you a lovely day with happy writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: 2018 Chat

I was thinking of releasing Dragon Prey on September 1st. Now I got an invitation to a school reunion on that day. And maybe a Saturday release isn't really smart, either. *sigh*

I retreated to my balcony again, and it's almost magical - so easy to let the words flow there, with just the little laptop. I didn't do much in the afternoon, however. I want to get more productive.

At least tomorrow's blog post and email are already set up, which feels utterly awesome. I really want to make it a habit.

Wishing you a lovely day with lots of writing fun. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Firle: I know you're not interested in Instagram, but they just added an IGTV section to their site for longer videos. I downloaded the app on my phone, and I checked it out. The videos can be up to an hour long, and you can upload them from your computer/laptop/tablet/etc.

After creating an Instagram account, and then an IGTV channel, this link will give you the ability to upload videos while logged in on your computer/laptop/tablet/etc.

And maybe eventually, Instagram will also give members the ability to do the same on their regular site.

Re: 2018 Chat

Thanks, Jox. I know you are always looking for ways to make things better.

I loathe Instagram, and I hate being told to use it (you're not the first, and don't mean that personal). I refuse to use Instagram.

Why? Because one can ONLY upload through a cell-phone app, and my cell is registered to my real name email addy. So I can't even easily use Instagram for Hannah. And I really don't know what kind of pics I chould post for my coaching.

In fact, that app makes me furious. I feel discriminated against, because they FORCE me to use a system I don't want to use. I would happily use it if I could upload from my PC, but obviously, they consider PCs not "good enough for them" (read this in a high, whining, elitist voice). No, they have to try to be "modern" and "hip" and blergh.

Same arrogance that Apple shows - which is why I refuse to buy anything Mac or iThing. I mean, seriously, I can't read their news, I can't upload books to iBooks without a Mac OS? WTF do they think they are? They are not getting my money or data.

*takes a deep breath*

I find I'm being extremely thin-skinned at the moment. I can't stand senseless obstacles, I can't stand a lot of political idiocy, I can't stand my smoking, whiny neigbor. And at the moment, I react with FURY, which I know isn't good for me.

(This morning alone, I had to detour around a trailer someone parked directly on the sidewalk. I mean, it would not have been possible to put it more in the way of any pedestrians. Really? Then I tried to step out of the way of a family with two small kids on bikes, and almost stepped in front of a cyclist coming silently up behind me ON THE SIDEWALK, where she has no business riding. I could have killed her.)

The root canal saga continues, which is part of my frustration. The specialist couldn't clear that last curving channel yesterday, so now I have an appointment to get a 3D image of that tooth tomorrow, on my own Euro, of course. I'll see the specialist dentist again on Monday. I'm sick and tired of appointments - which take time and hassle since I have to take busses to those places - and I am sick and tired of phantom pain in my jaw. (Yes, it all makes sense, and it is in my tooth's best interesting, but really?)

Of course, it doesn't help that I'm stuck in a frustrating job, that my books don't earn more than pocket money, that my coaching business has fallen flat on its face AGAIN, and that I am so, so tired of struggling.

Oh, and I have been waiting for the delivery of an Amazon package since Monday, and found out yesterday that the delivery guy has been lying about "trying to deliver" the package, because I was actually home at the documented times, and nobody rang the door bell. I called Amazon support yesterday evening, fuming. The delivery people hate delivering to me because I live on the fourth floor. Of course, Amazon is their real customer, so they are the ones who need to turn up the heat. I really hope my stuff gets here today.

At least writing is happening, but I'm also getting frustrated by not being able to push those stories out. Haven't been able to touch "Dragon Prey" which needs a serious round of editing, then a cover design, and of course, formatting for ebook and print.

(And did I mention I need to do tax stuff? ARGH.)

A part of me would just like to run away. Except there is no place to run to.

Anyway. I hope you have a better day, and I hope there will be writing.

Re: 2018 Chat

I created my Instagram account while on my laptop. I was logged into my ChelSierra Remly Facebook account, and logged in at Instagram that way. The email address I used for that Facebook account is not the same one I use on my phone. I have a gmail account that isn't connected to any of the apps, other than the App Store, which was the reason I created that email account. My personal email account is on my laptop only. I didn't like the idea of that account being on my phone.

And, yeah, right now you can't upload onto Instagram with anything other than your phone. But now they have IGTV, and you can upload on your laptop for that ... however it seems you can't see those videos on your laptop, only on your phone. Hopefully they'll wise up and one day open up to allow uploading from various devices.

Sorry to have shared about IGTV on a bad day for you.

BTW: I knew how you felt about IG ... but I wanted to share about IGTV, because you could upload the videos from your computer ... and you could create your IG account on your computer. Actually, I thought it was a second site when I posted, but I see now it isn't. And you can't see the IGTV videos on your computer. Although you might the ones you upload. emoticon

I posted before I got all the facts. Sorry I did it on a bad day. I'm not having such a great day today myself. Anyhoo, you can just ignore my sharings. I'll be sure not to share about IG or IGTV in the future, unless they change their policies about only being mostly for the phone.

I know you're always sharing things to help. I didn't mean to rant AT you. I just think Instagram is making horrible decisions.

I hope your day got better. emoticon emoticon

Life is still stomping me. On top of everything else, my back went out yesterday. Not with a bang but slowly creeping up. I still have some pain killers around from the Christmas episode, so now I'm on them and can at least walk.

I need to walk today, to go to that 3D image appointment for my tooth. So the earliest I can collapse is tomorrow.

I managed to find a position on my balcony chair that didn't hurt - it involved using a u-shaped pillow on my back. Weird, but at least I could write that way. I don't want to give up on my 1k/day.

I recorded video for my blog, and realized it was the perfect promo for my Daily Writing Habit series that I haven't promoted in a year or so. I need to change that... that's also the class I want to turn into an online self-study course.

At least I did get that package I had been waiting for. They delivery guy rang the moment I had curled up in bed for my back. Of course. He was nice, and it all worked out in the end.

So much to do... I'm working hard not to let that stress me. I can only do as much as I can. And my back is reminding me of that... even so, I'm looking forward to writing this evening. It's becoming my place to relax.

Happy Writing! emoticon emoticon emoticon
