I looked at my daily planner this morning with a touch of angst. The forecast for my area of the world says -7 degrees Celcius (where is this "global warming" when you need it?). emoticon
I would much rather stay at home than get out in weather like what is forecast, but I need to put fuel in my vehicle if nothing else.

Dawn cooked a prime rib roast, and I cooked three pounds of black-eyed peas. We have food enough for a family of twelve in our refrigerator!

Hi guys! emoticon It was a good holiday for me, if cold! -40 or colder with the windchill making it over -50. I managed to frost bite my cheeks for the second time in my life. Not too badly though, just enough that it hurt to smile. emoticon Spent a lot of the time playing computer games with my brother since he wanted us to test his mods. Endless monsters... emoticon
The animals made it through the cold spell and are now happy that is has warmed up to -20ish. And so are we because we had two ewes lamb today! A single male and a set of triplets, one male and two females. It looks like we'll have to supplement the triplets, which is normal but why we were hoping for twins. emoticon
On the writing front I've been planning lots and it's starting to shape up. I'm excited to actually write the story, it feels like that is getting closer by the day. emoticon
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year's holiday and that your writing projects go well in the new year! emoticon

Hi trying,

I am glad you made it through the cold snap. I don't believe I could have managed that kind of freeze here in Texas.

I am spending time plotting orbits which has caused me to change my sequence of events in the sequel to First: Transit.

I feel a tickle in the back of my throat, so I am going to bed earlier than usual.

Rick: I hope the cold spell has gone away for you. That sounds horribly cold for your area. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jox: Eeeek! That's also horrible. (But I have to admit I prefer Celsius, it's a much more logical scale.)

Trying: So glad to hear your animals are fine, but that frostbite is nasty! I hope it heals well. All the best for those triplets!

I'm back home after visiting my family, and boy, do I have plans for 2018!

It's raining here, at around 5°C. Typical winter weather now, and yes, this is global warming. I miss having some snow in winter. We may get some frost next week, at least.

I'm back at work today. The weather is cold - below freezing, it was -6°C this morming - and very sunny. I love this kind of weather. Sadly, it'll go back to drizzle and gray on Wednesday.

I managed to set up my fitness armband this morning, and connect it to the app on my phone. Because I'm overweight, my daily goal is 7,500 steps per day. My walk to work seems to cover almost half of that already. I'll get a good baseline tomorrow, because I have to get some groceries today which means a little more walking than going straight home.

I'm also having fun writing a Beauty and the Beast version set in Crete. (Yes. Do look up Greek mythology. emoticon) I'm planning to spend an hour a day working through GIMP tutorials so I can learn how to create covers. I'm now friends with a guy on FB who makes gorgeous covers. I'm very tempted to buy from him, but even the $200 he asks is more than my books make...

2018 will be my year. emoticon emoticon emoticon

This morning I decided to make a couple of posts on a message board that I believe was created by mistake (the board owner was looking for NAR if I am correct).

The reason I made the posts was that I liked the board name and I was playing with pictures that seemed to fit the potential board's theme.

Yeah I heard Texas was cold Pastor Rick. Stay safe!

Good luck with the walking, Firle! Your story sounds interesting. Wow that's a lot of money for a cover. I wonder what the cover artists for the 'big' publishers get paid. Although when you think of the time spent making the cover I wonder what the hourly rate actually is? Anyways I hope you can make a cover you're happy with.

We've had two more ewes lamb, a set of female twins and another single ram lamb. And we actually haven't had to feed any of the triplets but we're keeping a sharp eye on them as it's suppose to get colder again so they'll need more food. It's so fun to watch them bounce around the barn yard already, I wish it would stay nice the rest of the winter!

Hi Trying!
Good luck with the triplets! It's amazing their mother can feed all of them. Yay for the new babies. emoticon

Rick,
I hope you can salvage that board. emoticon

Actually, $ 200 for a package that includes an ebook cover, a print cover and pics for ads is very cheap. Covers can easily run up to over $ 1,000. I think this guy is in East Asia, so for him, each sale is good money.

I'm making progress with my B&B story. They will make love today. Ahem. And I know the solution - happy ending is coming.

I asked for help with GIMP tutorials on FB, and I'm hopeful I'll find some that I can work with. Most are not really good. But Susa actually has a board with tutorials she used. emoticon

Not much writing yesterday, although my FB group prompted me to put in some words.

I'm stressing over applying for a new job in my old home town (one way of finally moving there!), as well as the workshop I wanted to teach end of January (I'm moving it into February), and my blog topics.

And this morning, I had a very clear, very strong revelation: I do NOT want another day job. Yes, I very much want to move "home", but I also want to focus on my passions of EFT and writing.

So while I will apply to those jobs - because it is an opportunity - I will focus on building my practice into a viable business, and I will publish more books, build my email list and bring in income that way, as well.

Because this is what I want to do until the end of my life, and relying on a day job is dimishing my passion and calling.

Yesterday was interesting. I went to see a new client, and there was a shop called "German Deli" in the same shopping center. I went in expecting a delicatessen and dreaming of bratwurst and sauerkraut and was surprised to find out the "deli" was a convenience store specializing in German food imports.

It was awesome but hard to navigate since I don't speak or read German (I wished Firle was with me). emoticon

I bought a jar of Hengstenberg Crunchy Gherkins because it said it was Germany's #1 pickle on the jar. I was expecting a sour dill pickle, but these are sweet. Not bad but not what I was looking for at the time. I get a 15% discount for being ex-military, so next time I am going to try "barrel pickles" and grab a jar of "German Instant Coffee."

Hey, that sounds interesting.

Yes, Hengstenberg is a large company making pickles and cans with vegetables. I think I tried their sauerkraut. Of course, you could always ask here. emoticon

I'm struggling with resistance about making covers and creating my online workshops. I added pressure by mentioning the workshops in my newsletter today...

Fog just moved in. Today, I have two long busrides ahead of me, because I'll see a doc in a different part of town. Still plan to get more writing in later today.

Have a good one! emoticon emoticon

It got cold again so am thankful no new lambs yet. I hope they wait until it warms up again. And now that it's cold we're having to feed the male of the triplets, but only at chore times which is much nicer then 6+ times night and day. emoticon Other then that they are bouncing around the barnyard making us laugh. This morning the newest ram lamb, a grayish-brown, was standing on his momma's back headbutting her ear! emoticon
My writing is going good. I'm filling in the blank spots in the outline and having fun making sure it all ties together.

That sounds like quite the adventure, P.R.! I hate sweet pickles so wouldn't have been too happy. emoticon Sauerkraut though, YUM! Three of us can go though four gallons in a month and that's holding ourselves back...

Good luck with the covers and workshops, Firle! And I hope your visit to the doctor went well.
Will it be a big move for you go back to your old home? If you do have to get a new job I hope you can find one you enjoy and fills you with inspiration.
Do you have a link to the tutorial board? I wouldn't mind poking around Gimp as well.

Jox, how's life treating you?

I'm doing good. No more illness after the flu bug a few weeks ago. It got up to 63F today. It's dropping tonight, and the rain will turn into freezing rain, then sleet, etc. They're calling for snow on Monday. The freezing cold is returning for another week. Mom's dog will be thrilled. She loves the cold. Stays outside and refuses to come in. Makes me afraid I'll forget she's outside until hours later. Silly dog. I don't know how she'll handle the lights going out. Will probably love that I can't heat up the house, and she can have the cold inside too. emoticon

Doctor visit went well. It was a regular check-up anyway, and all is good. I took the bus back home, got off to get some groceries and walked home through the park. It was cold and rainy.

When I got home, I was just exhausted. I managed to create the FB meme that was due in GIMP (it just means changing some text), and posted the posts due. Went to bed early, and still didn't sleep enough. Meh.

Trying: I'm happy to hear the lambs are doing well, even if you have to supplement the food for one of them. Glad your writing is going well!

Yes, it will be a big move, about 400km south. I'm dreading it. This weekend, I'll set up my applications for two jobs there (both part-time, unlimited time). They are basically a management position for a professor, managing finances, correspondence, travel plans. Not at all what inspires me...

Jox, thank for pointing trying to Susa's board. emoticon

Also good to hear you're over the flu. That's a nasty illness that takes a lot of strength. Your mom's dog sounds like a handful. Is she the big, fluffy kind? If so, she could help warm you if you lose electricty - I hope you don't, though.

Today is a dark and dreary day, barely lighting up. I'll be busy with an online class after getting home, then I really MUST do some work for the workshop...

Have a good, easy day, everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

She's a mix mutt, terrier IIRC. But she does put out a lot of body heat, and sets off my hot flashes whenever she gets too close.

It's thundering and I tried wrapping her up to see if it would calm her. If I get it just right she does calm down some.

Oh, she's cute!

That's a good wrap. Did it help? A thundershirt might help, as well. Or you could try tapping for her when she's scared. EFT works quite well for animals.

Watched a coaching Q&A yesterday, and more lightbulbs went on in my head. Add that to the lightbulbs about NOT wanting another day job, but rather planning to build my coaching and writing, and some decisions are getting easier. I might still apply to those jobs, but meh... don't really want a job other than what I'm good at, and that's EFT and writing.

So I present to you: The Mindset Mentor for Authors!

I'm working on a landing page for that, and this is a very rough draft: ]Eagle Power for your Novels (Name is subject to change.)

I pulled up my old file for my Writers' Block ebook, which I want to publish to establish myself as expert. It's more of a booklet, to be honest... will be accompanied by a "workbook". Or maybe I'll just stick it all into one, to make it bigger. But non-fiction is allowed to be small.

This is HUGE. I've never tried to establish myself as such a person. But I can see myself working with a handful of clients 1:1 (for quite a high price), and offering workshops to add income and a client base. Wish me luck! emoticon

tryingtowrite: Take care. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Was the ewe being playful or defensive or just not paying attention? They don't realize they're so much stronger than us in a lot of ways.

Firlefanz: Not to beat an old bush ... but would the writer's block information work as a game? (A 'prompts' type game.) Perhaps put each exercise on a card? Figure out a game board design to go with the cards? emoticon

Having both an eBook & Game Cards &/or Board(s) would bring in more money. (Cards/Boards could be for a single player or multiple players. Add your tapping instructions to each card/exercise.) Perhaps both the eBook and cards/boards could be a part of your therapy session? emoticon

Okay ... gonna zip my lips ... er ... fingers now. emoticon

Trying: Ouch! Ouch, ouch, ouch. You might have a concussion... please take it easy for a few days.
 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jox: Thank you for your thoughts. I plan to add a workbook to my book, and I like the idea of cards... (cards would be a production and shipping problem, though). EFT instructions are... not quite that simple. I could print a picture of the tapping points on the back, but that would only serve as a reminder.

I can't quite see turning the problem of Writers' Block into a game, to be honest. Try to see who can come up with the most excuses? That would be turning all the frustration of Writers' Block into a bad joke. And there are enough word count apps out there already to have a reward system in place for writing.

Thing is, Writers' Block is personal. Every writer has different beliefs, rules, expectations and family systems. I can talk about general and common reasons for the block, or I couldn't do the book, but the really good work comes from individual attention. I can help a group, but 1:1 is simply the best, because we can dig down and get to the root of the problem. (Hm. I need to put this into the book where I plug my service. emoticon )

I wrote a bit more for my paranormal romance. Things are heating up. emoticon

Weather is turning nice. I may actually go out for a walk today. This is non-trivial. But the step-tracker I got for Christmas is an interesting motivational tool. Why don't word-count trackers work as well?

Have a great Sunday! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the well wishes! emoticon A good night's sleep has helped with the headache and floaty feeling so now the area is just swollen and a bit sore. And the end of my nose is numb, so weird feeling! emoticon I think the spelling problems was an old brain injury, which flares up every time I hit my head and causes such problems.
It was just an accident. I leaned over the fence to adjust the feed dish so another ewe could eat and surprised Patti. If I'd talked she probably would have just kept eating, or if I hadn't been dangling over the fence I probably could've moved out of the way.
On a side note I just sneezed and sent it out my mouth not my nose, did you know you could do that?! emoticon

Thanks for the link, Jox, I will check it out later.

Well I think I'm going to go rest some more. emoticon

Well, if your nose is stuffed, or swollen, it has to go somewhere ... and your nose/ears/mouth/throat are all connected.

I did go on a walk. I went all the way down to the harbor in ice wind and clear weather. Took a few pics, but since the update, my cell camera is a bit iffy. Got one really, really good pic.

At the water's edge, I stopped at a cafe and had a cup of cocoa and a waffle. Since I had to sit at a big table - the cafe was full when I arrived - I ended up sharing it with an elderly couple. We had a nice chat, but I also read a bit on my kindle.

On the walk home, I had enough before I got home, but since we don't have teleporters, I had to finish the walk. Turned out I walked more than 11k steps yesterday!

And I even wrote a bit in the evening, although it took some tapping to get there. emoticon

Today, I can laugh about it, but it was a rather frustrating day yesterday:

In order to get my steps in, I took the long way around the park. And the sun came out, and things started to look nice. So I took out my cell to take pics.

Since the OS update, the camera's autofocus is broken. Not one of the pics I took is in focus. Very annoying. At home, I figured out how to manually set the focus, but that's a tad involved if your outside in an icy wind.

And while I was walking through the final part of the park to get home, a bird pooped on my jacket. Stupid crow!

Which meant that as soon as I got home, I cleared out my jacket and soaked it in water. It's supposed to be handwashed, it's one of those function jackets. Handwashing a jacket is hard work.

And to add insult to injury, my fitness armband couldn't sync with its app, after the app updated during the day. I was a bit surprised at the level of frustration that caused. I wanted my reward, dangit!

At least this morning, my jacket was clean and dry, I managed to synch my fitness armband, and I managed to write my German blogpost and set up the newsletter before going to work... but going to work meant to slog through slush, as it had snowed at night.

I hope you have better days!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My sister had a t-shirt that said: "$hit Happens!" There was an image of a man looking up at the sky, and a bird flying overhead, and the man getting splattered with poo. And almost EVERY TIME Mom put that shirt out onto the clothesline to dry, a bird would poop on it and Mom would have to wash it again. Very rarely did my sister get to wear it after a first washing.

The Law of Attraction at work!

Today, it's snowing. We're supposed to get about 5cm (2") of snow. Nothing bad will happen, but I am pondering how urgently I need to go to Aldi... it would be best to get it done today.

Finding it hard to write and hard to work for my coaching practice. I'm seeing a pattern here: Avoiding success... avoiding being seen - because inevitably that will lead to getting attacked, ridiculed, and judged.

*sigh* Lots of tapping material...

Jox: Thank you for your thoughts. I plan to add a workbook to my book, and I like the idea of cards... (cards would be a production and shipping problem, though). EFT instructions are... not quite that simple. I could print a picture of the tapping points on the back, but that would only serve as a reminder.

Oooh ... A workbook is a great idea. I should keep that in mind for my nonfiction book. Not quite sure if it would be possible, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind and let the seed either grow or die.

I don't know if Germany has a similar site, to publish games, though you might be able to use Game Crafters. emoticon I never thought to check where they ship to, and how expensive it is.

If you want to take a look at the types of playing cards they have:

You can check out their scorecards options. Should that get creative juices flowing:

And you can check out their booklets as well, if you'd like:

This is a card game that I found that is somewhat similar to a nonfiction teaching game ... to get juices flowing:

Actually, I did get an idea from checking out that page. Maybe have different size/types of playing cards in one game. One size for instructions? A different size for prompts? A different size for suggestions? ... hmm ... I'll keep that in mind as well, see if something grows from it for my card game idea.

* That's another perk of tossing out ideas to others, it sometimes gives me ideas as well. *

** Jotted those ideas down to play with later on. **

Yeah, well. Cards will come much later in the whole development. I could actually see a set with "Writers' Block" cards...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meeting is over ~~~~~
... see a set with cards giving support and encouragement, so people can actually draw a card when they need some support.
Busy at work... also a busy day today with two meetings, one in the afternoon, one in the evening. Fun stuff, so that's good.
Running off! emoticon emoticon emoticon
