Warp Bubble & fuel consumption
I need to keep notes on things relating to the Warp Bubble being used in my story, especially if I end up writing a sequel to the original story later on (thinking about the future)...
PLS Exodus is huge, it has a mass of 8.1 million tons. All fuel consumption numbers are based on what is required for a ship this size...
The ship's fuel capacity is almost half the mass of the ship at 3.969 million tons.
Fuel used before warp bubble creation: 1,961,152.9 tons (3-1/2 years of a 7-year journey)
Fuel remaining: 2,007,847.1 tons
Fuel required for the warp bubble to form: 344,250 tons.
This equals 4.25% of the ship's mass.
Fuel remaining: 1,663,597.1 tons.
The warp bubble requires 19,440 tons of fuel per light year traveled to maintain.
This equals .0024 times the ship's mass.
PLS Exodus travels 79.4 light years so the total fuel consumed in travel is: 1,543,536 tons
Fuel remaining: 120,061.1 tons .
The extensive emergency force screen usage by the ship caused an extra drain on the fuel stores of 77.86 tons.
Fuel remaining: 119,983.24 tons. The fuel gauge indicator is at 3.02% when they arrive.
The ship normally uses 46,694.117 tons of fuel per month.
Remaining cruise time before fuel is exhausted: 2 months, 17 days, 2 hours, 4 minutes, 54.077 seconds.
I think that is correct but I won't get my feelings hurt if someone wants to check the numbers...

Re: Warp Bubble fuel consumption
Math... I chose to believe you did it right.
We need to get Reythia to this thread.

Re: Warp Bubble & fuel consumption
I tweaked the numbers this morning to create a sense of urgency on the part of the ship's crew. Before doing that they had plenty of time and there is no need for the asteroid "Jo" to be in the story. Now they still have a choice but "Jo" is going to look like the best option.
