Last night I was rear-ended by a big rig truck! I am okay, my vehicle is also okay as far as being driveable is concerned. I am finding it difficult to concentrate on other activities and deal with the details of the accident. Hopefully, the insurance company for the trucking company will be easy to deal with...

Oh, Rick, that's awful. I hope you can get everything sorted soon. Glad you didn't get hurt. emoticon emoticon

I got my writing blog post all set up, and was in the middle of breakfast, when my back seized up. I knew instantly that I wouldn't be going to work. emoticon

So I called in sick, been using a hot water bottle and some ointment to ease the muscles, and will go for a nap soon. Despite that, I edited a few more chapters of "Betrayal", since I'm getting pressure to re-release my dragon books - the friend doing the covers wants to show them off.

No sales for the German novel, but a wonderful review. So that's something.

I think that perhaps progress is not always a good thing. When I was a kid my Dad was rear ended while we were at a stop sign. The man who hit him and my Dad talked it over and decided the damage was minimal. So instead of doing all of this "information exchange" like we do now the guy just handed my Dad a ten dollar bill and drove away. I don't remember the store but Dad bought something called "Bondo" and a can of silver paint and fixed his car in their parking lot. He showed me how to do it and I thought it was cool... especially since there was enough money left for Dad to buy everyone in the family some ice-cream!

Now... I had an estimate done on the damages to my car which I swear look almost the same as when my Dad's car was hit... The verdict was $1,[sign in to see URL] in damage and five days to repair!!! PLUS, no money left for ice-cream. emoticon

I haven't had internet for two days, but a modem replacement has fixed that problem. The new upgrade has made old modems obsolete.

Rick: That's annoying! But yeah, car repair has really changed, and it's horrible how expensive it has become.

A part of me can't wait for autonomous cars to come out. I dream of being able to order one up just like a taxi, but for much less. I'd never bother even owning a car. And with them all linked, accidents could become really rare.

Of course, lots of downsides... I'm sure dystopian writers will explore those.

Jox: Yay for a replacement and no modem!

My back is better, but I'm still stiff and sore. *sigh* Sorting through all my projects and prioritizing them. But I will also give myself space to just write what floods my mind...

So yeah, Saturday was a wild ride... with shivers, headaches and all. I turned up the heat in my bedroom and went to bed covered with two blankets and was still shivering.

Thing is, I had cold symptoms getting gradually worse most of the week, but Friday night, I was getting a throat ache. And I used EFT tapping and asked my body to deal with this pronto and thoroughly.

Which it did. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sunday morning, most of the cold symptoms were gone. The headache was gone. I was still tired, and my back was still sore, but all I have left now is a slight cough. (And I still tire easily.)

But I'm back at work (it was this or going to the doc for a sick slip, and work was easier), and I think I'll manage to format a chapter or two this afternoon, in addition to a nap.

Working on this self-care thing. emoticon

Rick: Yay for the curtains!

Busy day yesterday. Got a session from a buddy, and I felt good enough to tackle formatting again.

Cue complete meltdown.

I ran into deep trouble with the Word file that CreateSpace offers as sole template for the print book interior. It's quite possible that over ten hours of work will be completely wasted.

A friend is looking into this, but without a working LibreOffice template, I cannot create a functioning print book interior and convert it to PDF.

I'm stuck right now, and utterly frustrated. emoticon

Try ]this page, it has a "basic book template" available for free.

I also found ]this page which has so much stuff on it I would miss my writing session if I tried to sort it out.

The thing is, the template MUST fit CreateSpace specs for a certain trim size. So generic doesn't really cut it.

I have a very simple template (manuscript form) for writing that feels comfortable and fun to use. It has paragraph styles, and not much else.

The second site looks very useful. I might spend some time exploring it - especially the subdocument part. That might be really helpful. But even he doesn't touch print in his explanations...

I am having to fight myself to continue my story. I had this happen before and see what seems to be the cause so I am not worried, just annoyed because my word count was on a solid upswing before this happened (see Contemplations if you are curious).

I cleaned my office some more and found a Christmas present that was given to PK and me 3 years ago! A nice cordless telephone which I just switched out with my old office phone and is now charging batteries that have been dead for all that time.

Yay for the phone! I hope it works wellf or you. emoticon

I found I have two lovely reviews on Amazon for my German novel. That's totally cool. (Both by people I know.)

I'm so worried about the print editions, and the upcoming re-release of my dragon books that I can't really focus on writing, even though there are stories that want some more work.

Wish me luck with the print cover for the German novel...

I tested my phone today, it seems to work but I need a DSL filter for the base unit to kill the whine in the background.

I have not had a day off since the 1st of the month and it looks like it will be another week before I can take one. I was wondering why I felt so tired and am happy to figure out it is my secular job and not my new writing habit that is the main cause for my exhaustion.

I had a long day yesterday, with two client sessions. No time for writing.

Thing is, I've been working with one of them for years now (she's a tapping buddy, meaning we exchange sessions). And since I got to know her, her life and situation has been steadily getting worse. Once or twice, she almost died. Right now, she's caught in a terrible situation.

And there is nothing I can do. Oh, I know what she "should" do to change her situation, but she's unable or unwilling to do that thing, no matter how much work we do on it. As we're friends, I'll still do my best to support her, but I can feel myself giving up hope. She's refusing to work on her life challenge.

Maybe that's the lesson there: We healers cannot save anyone. We can only open doors and point to paths, but ultimately, it's our clients' choice to walk that way - or not.

Today, I hope I can write. I need that bit of escape into another world.

It's Friday, and I'm home, taking a day off on overtime. Which meant I was having breakfast late and in a very leasurely manner. In fact, I was writing in my diary and really enjoying watching the pen on paper in bright sunlight, when the crumbs in my toaster caught fire.

I heard the little woosh, and a tiny crackling - looked up and saw little flames dancing in the toaster. I blew them out without thinking twice, turned off the toaster (yes, it has a switch), and looked at the toast on top. It wasn't even charred.

So I finished breakfast, not the least upset, somehow, and then cleaned out the toaster. Now it looks like this again:

And now I'll go to the park and take pics, because it's a beautiful day out there, and I need to set up the March meme for my writing group.

Have a great day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good luck with the re-release, Firle!

We've been sorting and packing. Also are up to three bottle lambs now, thankfully they're all old enough to go over night without a bottle and for the first time in a month and half or so I've been able to sleep through the night. emoticon

My writing has been on the back burner for awhile, but I am mapping the world because I keep getting lost in the palace. emoticon

Good luck with the map!! Those things are really useful, and I totally understand you getting lost in a Palace. Those things can be huge!

I did spend Sunday formatting "Dorelle's Journey", and I finished it all. I only need to do one little more graphics thing or two, and I can upload everything.

The Cloud Lands Saga Month is happening!

(It'll be a lot of work. The other books are larger, and will take longer to format. But I think I know the process now, and it'll be easy, if time-consuming.)

Major distractions. One of my church members passed away so I am working on funeral arrangements there. PK has both Bronchitis and Pink Eye so we are dealing with some short-term medical expenses that are much larger than what we have budgeted for. So far my new morning schedule has not been affected but my normal evening RDS duties are taking a major hit.

I started formatting Kraken War. Doing it chapter by chapter and proofing it (mostly for italics) enables me to fix lots of little things, some typos, some minor changes. I also divided up two very long chapters, since I'm getting rid of the dividers anyway.

It's much more fun than I expected. emoticon

Awesome day yesterday:

I managed to put my new RAM into my computer, and it is now running happily with 8GB RAM. It was rather easy, except I had to drag my computer out of its corner and clean out the cobwebs.
 emoticon

Then I uploaded the new ebook version and cover of "Dorelle's Journey", scored a guest blog where I advertise "Kraken War", and practically finished formatting "Kraken War" yesterday evening. I still have the backmatter to do, which is a bit finicky. But I'll manage that today.

Unfortunately, I decided to ride my bike to work today. In the yard, the chain slipped off. I found it was very rusty, so I went to get my oil from my mail box (I keep it there for easy access, never blocked any mail), and found a letter from the tax office. (*sigh*) I left it there, went to oil my bike chain and threw out my back while hunkering down.

Somehow, I wrestled the bike up the stairs into the house, down the stairs to the street and rode it to work. I may be a little insane. A collegue just gave me her hot water bottle. I think it is helping.

Gah. At least it is nice and sunny today.

A TV reality show came to my rescue this morning! I had hit one of those "frozen in place writer blocks" where I didn't know how to proceed. I didn't want the scene to be another tragedy but I couldn't figure out how to fit things together without making it one.

I sewed some buttons back on to a couple of my shirts while thinking about the scene and then I remembered this show where one of the design judges was appalled by how dangerous a retractable item was in a children's room. My scene involves a grown woman but I found a fun way out of my dilemma by inserting a retractable curling brush into the bathroom!

Sorry for your church member, Pastor Rick! Is PK getting better? A retractable curling brush, sounds like fun. emoticon

Yah for new RAM, Firle! Good luck with all the formatting, it sounds like a lot of work. I hope your back feels better soon!

How are you doing, Joxcenia?

My week started out good, but ended awful. Saturday evening we took the lambs their last bottle for the day and found the oldest one, Buttercup, collapsed. It looked like bloat so I was trying to help her and she died in my arms. emoticon I hate not knowing what was wrong... emoticon
The other two keep looking around puzzled. We were feeding Buttercup and Cookie side by side, Cookie refused to eat by herself. She ran over to be beside the boy so now we feed them together and she's happier.

It's also snowed about a foot and more is expected. Getting that much snow at one time makes chores so much harder! Plus now we can't pack the outside stuff yet.

Dad has a bid personal meeting coming up, so I'm nervous a that and all the fall out from it...
To end on a better note: I'm having fun mapping my palace in Minecraft! I started with a small building and tower then added another and another, etc. I'm trying to mimic what would happen as the royal riches grew, each generation adding another 'wing'. I've done maybe a third and it's huge! There's hidden 'dead' areas where rooms didn't line up, a bunch of secret passages and a maze of halls for my poor little queen to get chased down. Muhahahaha!
