Re: 2017 Chat
Yesterday I had two clients asking me about my book. They want to buy "autographed office copies" when I get it published! I had to laugh, They have my signature in their office files and their "entry logs" but they both want an "official autographed book." That just about made my day.

Oh, that's awesome!
I disappeared for a few days... just worn out. I played my favorite game (Titan Quest), and I even bought the new expansion. Time to learn new skills!
And yesterday, I participated in a day-long online class on bookkeeping. It was very intense, and very helpful.

Re: 2017 Chat
Trying, I can imagine how difficult the times are, with all those elections. Hang in there!
Today is my last day at work, for this year. I'm quite happy about it. I fell off the writing waggon after November, but I'm ready to get back on.
And I'll see my family around Christmas, with plenty of writing time included. Very much looking forward to that.

That's an awesome day, Rick! Do you get to give them to the kids?
I'm traveling and arrived safely at my sister's place. Spent the afternoon with my Dad. All is well.

Hi guys! Just dropping in to say hi before the holiday rush really hits. We've been busy finishing off projects while the weather was nice but today we woke up to -29 with a -35 windchill so [sign in to see URL]! The poor cows, just a few day ago we were -0 with freezing rain and they started to shed. Luckily the barn is nice and warm but they weren't to happy going out to eat their hay.
Have a great Holiday everyone and see you in the New Year!

Last year a member of my Church lost her mother during the holidays, so this year she and other members are going to fix lunches to take to the visitors of the ICU/CCU waiting rooms this weekend.

Trying, that sounds harsh! Poor cows, I'm glad they have a warm barn. Merry Christmas to you and a happy new year!
Jox: That's a lovely idea. And I'm sure it helps the Church member through rough days.

Re: 2017 Chat
I cannot bring myself to abandoning TRD. Time doesn't give me the option of creating or working Runboard promotional contests. To be honest about it, I am relieved to stop worrying about those events. Now, I am merely adding discoveries directly to the advertising section.
I want to be careful and not jeopardize my progress in writing, so I have a self-imposed limit of just adding one board per day at TRD.
The goal is to keep TRD relevant and useful for people who discover Runboard. I do not want to see it degenerate to something like Runboard Extra which is more of an archive board than an ongoing and living community.

Re: 2017 Chat
Rick, I totally understand how much of a burden TRD can become... that's why I stepped down when I did.
You did a LOT for TRD, and if adding one board to it every day is all you can do - so be it. It's still awesome.

I feel like a parent when the kids grow up and move out. Brian is the only one left who has not been promoted to global admin or moved on to other things.

Do you feel left out?
Today is Christmas for most Germans - we unpack our presents in the evening.
Before that happens, we need to put up the tree (usually done on Christmas eve), set our feast to cooking, and possibly play some games.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

You know me better than most people in the online world to pick-up on that. I did tell LG I didn't need the global slot to be validated. But after 11+ years as a mod and after everything the staff has been through others have to be wondering just what I did to put me on a permanent "blacklist."

Re: 2017 Chat
Merry Christmas everyone.
While returning from my churches Christmas Services today, I noticed an MMA gym is opening less than five miles from my house. Sometime next week I think I'll go over there and see about having my "fight scene" critiqued.

Rick: Sometimes, I think I'm psychic. It certainly helps me working with my clients, and I definitely got that vibe. I don't think you're blacklisted, though.
I love the idea of going to that MMA club and letting them go over your fight. I'm friends with a former MMA pro, and I ask him to check my fight scenes... (among other things. He's an awesome beta.)
Christmas was nice, but I wrenched my back badly on Tuesday morning, and only could get painkillers yesterday afternoon. They are awesome... such relief. I can almost move normally again.
Days are slow, and that's good.

Re: 2017 Chat
My Christmas was nice and strange. I was talking with PK on the way to see the family about my two living Great Aunts. They are in their nineties, so I don't know how many more Christmases we will have together. I was so worried about their health it didn't occur to me that my cousin would be the one to get sick and stop that branch of my family to miss the traditional get together.
I suppose age is in a person's head to some extent. I am "The Great Uncle." to most of the children which I consider funny because I don't feel that old.

Re: 2017 Chat
Age really is a funny thing.
A few days ago, I chatted with a friend of my nephews. She's 17, but I treated her just like an adult. She enjoyed that very much.
I'm 52, but I certainly don't feel like it. In my mind, I'm still barely 30. My body tells me that is not the case, but hey, I'm getting better.
I think being "The Great Uncle" can be a lot of fun. I enjoy being the aunt. (I don't let them call me "Aunt", though.)

I told my niece & nephew, and my great niece & nephew that the body ages, not the soul. Inside you're still young.

Re: 2017 Chat
I like that Mom's house is even closer to being cleaned out and that my niece will be moving in, hopefully by this Summer ... and I will no longer have to drive/walk there every day to feed Mom's cat and check the mailbox. (Which I was already doing for a long time before Mom died, (April 30, 2016), as she didn't always have the strength to get her mail or feed her critters, and I set up her dialysis machine so all she had to do was hook up when going to bed.)
Mom's mail is supposed to come to my house. I'm getting fewer and fewer, but some people still don't seem to know that she has passed away. But they leave mail every once in a while in Mom's mailbox, and since I don't know when, or if it could be important/time-sensitive, I have to check every day.
I have feral cats I feed on my back porch, so I can't bring Mom's cat to live in our barn because those cats might hurt him. I already have Mom's dog living in my house, and it's hard to keep the dog and cat dishes out of reach from each other, so I don't make him a house cat. Plus, he's used to being outside, so he probably wouldn't want to be an indoor kitty only. And Mom's house is within walking distance, so he'd probably go back there. ... And ... I'd really like to be pet free for a while. I'm tired of crying my eyes out when they die, and I'd really like a break before dealing with another pet. But someone pushes an animal on me and I haven't managed to get a break yet.

Re: 2017 Chat
2017 start out quite well for me, with the release of the Konrad novel, and the rebranding of the dragon series as well as the release of book #4 in the series.
And then it just ran aground.
I only picked up some speed in November with NaNo, which left me worn out and exhausted. But I'm happy about Konrad #2, as well as the live videos I did on FB.
I really want to do better in 2018.
