Self-publishing is good for women!
Wow, I just found this link through Twitter, and I'm doing the happy dance!
It seems that self-publishing is at least reducing or maybe even eliminating the industry bias against women in publishing. (Yes, it's there. Just look at the winners of literary awards etc.)
quote: Looking at the most popular titles across the top self-publishing platforms Blurb, Wattpad, CreateSpace and Smashwords, FicShelf found that 67% of top-ranking titles were written by women. This compares with the top 100 traditionally-published titles on Amazon, of which FicShelf discovered that 61% are written by men.
(I am a bit disappointed by the stats on Amazon, to be honest.)
Anyway, here's the link to the article.
Self-publishing lets women break book industry's glass ceiling, survey finds
So let's write - and add our own bestsellers to that list!

Re: Self-publishing is good for women!
Another obstacle created by Trad pub. When it's up to the readers, they don't care who wrote the book as long as it's a good book. Only the bigwigs at the publishing houses cared.

Re: Self-publishing is good for women!
It is actually quite eye-opening to see how men still dominate most literary award lists.
I'm very happy that self-publishing has gotten so easy - even if getting visible is still hard.
