I'm just now looking into formatting things myself because - while I totally love my formatting people - they have been delaying my books this year. So I'm looking for alternatives. I really believe now that formatting for ebooks is something simple. It just takes some knowledge of html and CSS, and the steps to clean up a manuscript. Formatting for print, however, is an entirely different ballgame. My brother in law trained for three years, then spent another two years gaining his mastery as layouter and printer. (I hope I can use his expertise.)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Sun, 30 Nov 2014 08:24:10 +0000 Re: Great Guide to Ebook Formattinghttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235844,from=rss#post235844https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235844,from=rss#post235844Good to know. So only do photo-books as print. When I went to bookmark the page it was already there. Don't know when I did that. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Joxcenia)Sat, 29 Nov 2014 22:33:15 +0000 Re: Great Guide to Ebook Formattinghttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235843,from=rss#post235843https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235843,from=rss#post235843Books with many images are really, really difficult to use as ebooks. Most e-readers are only black and white. Plus Amazon addes extra charges if the ebook reaches a certain file-size, which images will do. Print is different, obviously, but this guide doesn't explain print formatting. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Sat, 29 Nov 2014 09:57:53 +0000 Re: Great Guide to Ebook Formattinghttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235842,from=rss#post235842https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235842,from=rss#post235842I had planned on creating a book of cat images that I had taken of the feral cats that live in my backyard, but then I read that I'd need to know HTML/CSS to make sure the images showed up properly. That had me putting the photo-book on hold. Maybe this will help me with that. I was hoping the book would help me earn enough money for cat food and such. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Joxcenia)Sat, 29 Nov 2014 03:40:43 +0000 Great Guide to Ebook Formattinghttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235841,from=rss#post235841https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p235841,from=rss#post235841I'm looking around and reading up about ebook formatting, and was led to this blog series on the basics of ebook formatting. And while I was aware that ebooks use html, I wasn't aware they also use CSS. I should have known, those two usually go hand in hand. Anyway, if you're toying with the idea of self-publishing, this is really good to know. There are nine parts to it. I'm linking you to Part 1.
