Well, I'm glad you're posting here, even if there isn't a whole lot of activity.

This board is showing new life signs, though. emoticon

I do as much writing as I can get away with. I'm still plugging away at the novel I was working on for NaNo. Not as fast as I would like, but when is it?

How are things with you, Firlefanz?

Glad you're still writing. That's awesome.

I'm busy. Beyond deadline with my latest novella, and preparing for a come-out with a new pen name. I want to release up to seven books this year, mostly novellas, but also two to three novels.

It's fun, and yet, I'm also starting to take my writing business seriously. I'm really noticing that I need to release more in order to stay visible... bit like a rat race, but at least, it's mostly fun.

I'm learing how to create covers and formatting ebooks. Whee.

If you weren't serious about writing before, I'm interested to see where you "taking it seriously" takes you now.

Seven books in a year sounds very ambitious. I write as slowly as I read. But I'm working on taking writing more seriously myself, and actually committing to finishing some stories. I do really well until about halfway, then talk myself into writing something else, or even worse, just watching TV or something.

Formatting ebooks sounds interesting. Do you have some resources around that?

Well, I wrote a lot last year during summer, and just have to finish most of that stuff. It'll get a new pen name because it has some erotic parts in it.

Yes, I'm testing Jutoh for formatting. It seems I need to get everything ready in LibreOffice and then run it through Jutoh to get ebpub and mobi files. The basic version of it is free.

I did a quick test for a beta reader who prefers reading on the Kindle, and was quite happy how it turned out. Of course, that was without any graphics or a Table of Content (which is what Amazon is starting to insist on...).

I'll write about it once I get the process down. Of course, simple formatting services are not really expensive online, either.

I think finishing is the hardest thing about writing. I have so many unfinished stories, it's not funny. So getting them done, beta-read and edited is a big thing.

So best of luck for your writing. And if you want or need some accountability, start a thread here about your progress. emoticon

I was here, and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what made me want to check on the board!

Once upon a time I was quite active on forums in general, but ever since the community I was most active in closed down I've fallen away from the internet-forum as a medium.

I still write off-and-on, but have officially abandoned my old projects.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year emoticon

Heya, guys!

You have Rick to "blame" for my presence today! emoticon He sent me a PM, which actually made it into my email box.

So while I was here, I thought I'd say hi and let you know that (a) I'm alive and (b) I'm doing well.

This is most of the reason I've kind of disappeared:

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Her name's Sylvie and she's almost two. And she's TROUBLE in all capital letters (don't let the adorability fool you). She also has the ability to eat up time faster than a black hole. It's amazing. Between her (and being pregnant with her, which sucked from a productivity perspective) and work, I had a solid two years of pitiful writing.

On the other hand, I've recently found a little time to actually write again, which has been nice. I'm reworking and adding to a very old story, which has been satisfying.

Hope things are well with you guys. Happy new year!

Reythia!

It's good to see you and your awesome little daughter. I totally believe the time-sink she's creating. Toddlers are black holes for time!

You both look happy and good. Thank you for sharing that pic - and you are always welcome on this board.
