RIP Anne McCaffrey
She got me hooked on dragons. She's the one author who made me translate most of a book into German, because I wanted to be so close.
She's the reason why I write fantasy today. I will miss her simple presence on this world.

Very sad. Her "Pern" series was what got my sisters and I into fantasy, way back in high school. I think she really encouraged a different, softer and more personal type of fantasy than was written often before. RIP.
