Even if the publisher doesn't pick up the book, making the pitch is excellent practice. How was sitting on the panel? Did you have to answer alot of questions? Hehe, you're dressed up!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (BaneBlade)Tue, 21 Oct 2008 19:15:02 +0000 Re: The BookConventionhttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225375,from=rss#post225375https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225375,from=rss#post225375Sounds like fun and good job with the promoting! nondisclosed_email@example.com (tryingtowrite)Tue, 21 Oct 2008 01:59:08 +0000 Re: The BookConventionhttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225374,from=rss#post225374https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225374,from=rss#post225374That sounds like a lot of fun. Congrats on all that great success you are having! I hope those publishers recognize what you gave them and get you deal nondisclosed_email@example.com (Loud G)Mon, 20 Oct 2008 16:14:55 +0000 The BookConventionhttps://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225369,from=rss#post225369https://bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/p225369,from=rss#post225369Or BuchCon, as it's called in German. And no, that's not the huge Book Fair in Frankfurt, but a smaller side-con that specializes in Spec Fiction. And it does that very well! That's where I spent last Saturday. For an hour, I was crew at the Geschichtenweber booth, then I went to listen to a reading. Later in the afternoon, I was part of the panel presenting the Geschichtenweber as author group and even presented my story (Aryan Wife). Two more stories were read, partly, and our inofficial leader talked about the next projects (including the horsie anthology, which might be familiar to some of you). I'm the one in the red jacket: I managed to sweet-talk one publisher into reading my Konrad novel, (squeeeeeeh!) and I also managed to interest another publisher in the horsie anthology. I sure hope for progress along either line. In the evening, the German Spec Fiction Prize was handed out by the organizers. The Geschichtenweber anthology with my story in it was nomitated, but only made third place in the anthology category (sigh). However, one of the short stories from it snagged the short story award! Go, Geschichtenweber! About two dozen of the Geschichtenweber then proceeded to celebrate in a restaurant, which was a lot of fun and well deserved. We got "home" just before midnight, fortunately we could stay with a relative, so we didn't have to drive the five hours to our real home straight after that meal. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Mon, 20 Oct 2008 14:47:28 +0000
