Yay, I got a rejection, too!

And this is it:

quote:

Dear Chris,

Thanks for your submission. I apologise for the delay in this response. We were waiting until the anthology issue was at the printers before giving serious consideration to contenders for the subsequent issue. As this is now the case we can pay proper attention to submissions. Thanks for your patience.

It is an interesting piece, but regretfully in the end we decided it’s not quite what we after at this point in time. I wish you luck placing your work elsewhere and hope you consider Dark Animus for future submissions.

Thanks

I think it's kind of nice.

Oh, that is a nice rejection, indeed.

Best of luck submitting it elsewhere - that's important. Keep sending it out.

Well, at least they were politely rejecting!

*hugs* We still love you, Blitzen. Try, try again!

That's too bad, Blitzen!

No, its a good thing. I sent something away. Actually, finishing something is a very big step for me.

I'm getting there.

It's about taking steps. Nobody is a full fledged, published author from the start.

Writing a story is a step, editing it is one (or several, actually, as dealing with crits is a difficult task for most), and submitting is yet another. Interviews, readings, website ... all those are yet further steps.

Blitzen is right. Submitting a piece is a great step, even if it ends in a rejection. The next step is to send it out again. And again. It took me 14 months and four tries to find a home for the Minkus story. "Sequoia" still isn't published, and I've sent it out 8 times so far. Getting used to this kind of thing is a HUGE step.

And I'll gladly take you by the hand, since I've walked there already. emoticon

Okay, okay it's good that he's submitting work. I was just sad that he got rejected. emoticon
