Marketing the Pandaimonion book

We authors agreed to aggressively market the Pandaimonion book - so I'm pitching in now.

1) Organizing a reading: I just booked a room in a restaurant and printed invitations I'll take along to school and work.

2) Press release: I just wrote up a press release. I then phoned the local newspaper and talked to one of the editors in the "culture" department. She was rather interested and said they'd probably write an article about it. When I mentioned the reading, she promised they'd announce it as well.

Phew! This is exciting work! emoticon

Today I sold and signed my second copy, to an enthusiastic friend I hadn't met in years. He practically grabbed it off me, even though the copy I had in my backpack was slightly scuffed in places.

And then he proceeded to introduce me to his assistant who is planning a reading series in a place called the "media dome". That's a kind of multimedia setting doubling as planetarium. First meeting is next week.

I'm very, very happy. This is an excellent introduction into a local network of writers and publishers. Finally, I have a chance of reaching my local base!

Wooh! emoticon

You should google JA Konrath and look under his "tips". I don't know if he has tips for reading but he has them for everything else.

Well done anyway.

I'm back from the first reading I organized myself.

I'm hoarse, and my throat hurts (I've been fighting a cold for a while now), but I'm still happy. It was a good reading. There were less people than I had hoped for, but they listened attentively, they asked good questions afterward - and most of them came and bought the book. And they wanted it signed.

It was very cool. emoticon

Yes, they liked the story and wanted to read more - so they bought the book on merit and not just because of me. That's the best part about it.
