*hugs* Best of luck!

My Artemis story got a little twist. Chris is trying to meet Jamie, and he is trying to meet her, but both run into obstacles. Chris discovered she was being followed, and managed to shake the tail.

This was group one of the bad guys. I've never written a story with two sets of villains, so this will get very interesting.

I went back to "Incursions" today and fleshed out the scene using dialogue (adding 177 words to the story). Chanel is headed back downstairs now for the surprise reveal which is going to make her sick.

Incursions word count thus far: 1,236

I spent my afternoon and evening working on GDPR, and implementing it on my websites. And I did today's blog post.

In "Incursions" today Chanel feels weird unbuttoning the slacks of a dead woman who looks like her. I wanted to get this part over with but crunch day's kill my free time. I added 95 words to the story before going to bed.

That sounds like a difficult task! Poor Chanel.

I spent my day converting my websites to SSL, and setting up privacy policies. Now I hope that at least it's formally fine, while there is still a lot more work to be done in the background. Deadline is today, so... Phew.

No writing...

Re: I Wrote Today!

I got another nonfiction idea. Not sure yet if it will be its own project, or if it will be added chapters in the nonfiction project I'm already working on. I wrote close to two pages on it today.

The idea came from discovering someone using someone else's work in their own book, and I contacted the original author to let him know. The author had already seen it, but thanked me for looking out for him. He said that other author had put his 'Snowflake Method' in their own terms, and therefore no real copyright conflict, and that the other author didn't seem to be making very much money off of it anyways.

 ... ... ... ... ...

When doing a search for "The Snowflake Method," I discovered this:

http://www.booksamillion.com/search?id=7186764926284&query=Snowflake+Method

 ... ...

http://www.booksamillion.com/p/How-Write-Novel/Jonathan-Reid/9781974240029?id=7186764926284

 ... ...

https://www.amazon.com/How-Write-Novel-Blueprint-Snowflake-ebook/dp/B074DL3NY1

 ... ...

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35858646-how-to-write-a-novel

 ... ... ... ... ...

And then I thought of a few gardening books I own, and for some strange reason, it merged with other thoughts on writing in my head, and now I have a new idea. Not sure if/how it will work, but I'm going to see where it takes me.

I haven't had time to write. Setting up all the tech behind running a class on Saturday has been timeconsuming and somewhat more involved than I thought.

I hope I can get everything set up for the autoresponder today, so I can finally market. I'm also setting myself up for failure because the class happens this Saturday. I will invite you.

It's most definitely a test run... emoticon emoticon

Still getting more ideas for the Minotaur rewrite. emoticon

I'll wait and see if you get your quota. *crosses-fingers* I'm not sure those hours will work out for me. I'm more of a night owl, and late morning riser. emoticon I with you well. Sure hope this draws customers in.

 ... ... ...

I know some authors get inspiration from/while cooking, cleaning, showering, etc. ... but mine is blowing my mind. I got out my gardening books and started reading one, and after just reading a few pages, I wrote 3 pages on my nonfiction project. (The one inspired by the gardening books.) Somehow they distract my mind so that creativity just flows. The muse can sure come out of the strangest places/objects. I don't understand the connection, but I'm loving it.

... hmm ... I wonder where your muse for your Minotaur tale can come from? Books on mazes? Books on caves/caverns? Books on spelunking? (I don't know much about Minotaur myth/lore/legends, but in one of Hercules' episodes, the Minotaur lived in a maze in a cave.) You might can come up with other book ideas that have a connection to Minotaurs.

Or maybe you need to clean under the bed, or clean out the closests. emoticon Get in and clean out any small, darkish spot that might "swallow" you whole ... and put you into the mindset of those going up against a Minotaur in a small, darkish environment. emoticon (I'm sure you can come up with something that would work better for you. ... I'm never going to set limits on what to try to find inspiration ... kickstart the allusive/elusive/illusive muse.) emoticon

Re: I Wrote Today!

So far, I have not a single sign-up. So for now, I'm expecting a quiet Saturday. It's okay, it's a test run...

The story of the Minotaur is actually a rather dark one.

It all started out when the god Poseidon gave his son Minos a spectacular bull, ordering him to sacrifice the animal in worship to Poseidon. Minos loved the bull so much, however, that he sacrificed a lesser animal, angering Poseidon.

So Poseidon caused Minos' wife Pasiphae to madly fall in love with the bull. She persuaded Daidalos (yes, the inventor with the artificial wings) to build a wooden cow so she could hide in it and mate with the bull. The child resulting from this union was the Minotaur (which translates to Minos' bull), a human with a bull's head.

The Minotaur became a man-eating monster, and so Minos ordered Daidalos to construct a labyrinth for the Minotaur to live in. And in tribute, Athens had to send seven young women and seven young men every few years who were then given to the Minotaur.

Eventually, the son of the Athenian king decided to do something about it. Theseus met Ariadne - one of Minos' daughters - and she gave him a ball of string so he could find his way out of the labyrinth again. Theseus killed the Minotaur and ended up betraying Ariadne and becoming King of Athens himself, and that's basically the end of the story.

Now, the Minotaur has inspired many, many people, not the least the makers of videogames (World of Warcraft has a character class based on the legend, the Tauren; and Titan Quest has the Minotaur as semi-end boss in Crete). And I was just thinking what if that labyrinth was underground, and what if the Minotaur was still alive and not at all the monster he was made out to be? And what if Theseus' victory was just propaganda? And what if a brave woman were to free the Minotaur? What if Poseidon has a hand in it?

So it is a bit of a beauty and the beast tale, and I'm still struggling with the logistics of getting the Minotaur out of Crete and to the US.

Sounds like a cool story. I'm not much into dragons, but this sounds like something that would interest me.

(I never much cared for Zombies either, but there are exceptions. So dragons could have exceptions too ... I just gotta keep an open mind, and not judge them all by other dragon stories.)

Well, I saw something in the video I shared in another thread:

I've written 3 more pages so far today. So: 2 + 3 + 3 = 8 pages. I'm looking forward to when I can put all these notebooks together into one book, and several sets of board/card games.

[Edit]

I have four notebooks I write in for this project, so far. Two notebooks are for the main idea and games. One notebook is for children and games for children. And now a new notebook for this new idea. I don't know yet if any games will come of it.

Yay for writing!

I put 1,073 words into my dragon tale yesterday. Day 2 of T1k.

I also bought a book cover yesterday. I had just won $30 in "Design Cash", aka a rebate, and then he pulled a sale on his covers, so I ended up paying $70 for a premade that fits a story I call "The Exterminator". I had looked at that before, but at $200, it was too expensive to buy on a whim.

Now, the cover allows for a series title. And of course, my writing brain came up with a series name ("The Incursion Chronicles", should google that), and a basic plot for book #1 and book #2. Eeeeek! It really isn't as if I don't have enough to write already!

The best thing really is that the cover model comes from NeoStock, so there will be lots of shots to choose from for the second book cover. So this will be fun.

Yesterday was Day 5 of T1k. I put ~ 1100 words into the dragon story. And ended up with a surprise.

Today, I worked on The Exterminator, the Dark Urban Fantasy. Gregory told me what happened at the end of book #1, when they think they won the war. It's not nice. (But he gets to live.)

The demon slammed into his side, six talons digging deep into his chest, back and belly, just as Shivai reached him. She grabbed his Colt and blasted the head off the beast, but the damage was done, even as the talons melted away with the rest of the demon.
