Re: I Wrote Today!

I wrote a few 'mini-pages' today that is for cards to Indie-Publish on Game Crafters. By 'mini-pages' I mean those mini-legal pads. (5x8 in.) It could make up a page and a half of a regular legal pad size. emoticon

I can't figure out a name for my publishing business. I don't know if I should have just one, and group everything into it. Or have one business with sub-group/sub-category businesses with titles of their own. I'm thinking of adding 'Entertainment' to the main business title. This is because I plan on creating games that I Indie-Publish with Game Crafter, and I plan on doing videos at some point & maybe even Indie-Publishing them on DVD, plus the writing: Fiction, different genres and NonFiction.

And I know I don't need a business to do this, but I've been sued twice by a distant cousin and her husband, and owning a business would protect my publishing/entertainment earnings should they find something else to sue me over.

BTW: Feel free to quote this and copy/paste it to another discussion thread to continue the non-writing part of my post, if desired.

trying - you are doing great, keep going.

Jox - Your "mini-pages" remind me of my "mini-writing" method where I try and fill up the "post message" screen on Runboard (without getting the scroll-bar).

Firle - I found my map. emoticon I missed a day of writing, and it took me two days before I was back in the groove.

I added 753 words to my "first draft" of "First Transit." Most of it was in small bits of dialogue spread over 23 pages while editing scenes in the book! ("a first-draft" ≠ "a finished novel.")

First Transit word count to date: 103,002

I wrote a page today for something that may or may not ever be used.

I don't write fanfic, but I do juggle 'Daydreaming/Fantasy' fanfic stories in my head for my favorite shows/books/movies/etc. I create a character/s and incorporate that/those character/s into my favorite shows/books/movies/etc. At first it's more the other work, and less my input ... but over time I delve deeper and deeper and more and more into my additions of the original work/s.

Every now and again this leads to original creativity that I can use in another WIP, or save for as a new project idea. Today, one of my characters had an idea that I thought was worth keeping, so I jotted it down.

Awesome progress Jox and P.R.!
I've been plugging away at my story, it's pushing 8k now, but I've been feeling really disconnected to it. I'm not sure if it's because I've planned so much of it so it feels like I'm just listing stuff or if it's because I'm tired and stressed.

You've been doing great! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm back after my lazy staycation. Over the last few days, however, I became inspired for my Zell novels (the SF Romance that may not be a Romance, after all). He finally told me about what will happen in Part 3 - I was lacking stuff for adventures - and it's wonderful and exciting and gorgeous.

So I sat down to finish part 2, which will allow me to dive into part 3 next and discover the details of those adventures. Poor Zell will take some more damage... but it'll all end well!

The big thing?

I sat on my ass yesterday and wrote 5,928 words until I could put "The End" on the page. It took about four hours, spaced out over the day, and a final push around my bedtime.

Sweet, Jox!

I passed 8k today. I've discovered I'm only having trouble with the one view point. I think I shot myself in the foot by have my one MC trapped in a spot where she can't really do anything. Plus I'm not sure I have her reaction to her exile right yet. Hmm... emoticon

@trying: Change the tense of the one viewpoint. If you're using past tense, change to present tense, or vise-versa. Sometimes that helps me out. Also, put yourself in that trapped spot. Look all around, up and down ... look at it from the point of lying on your back ... look at it from squatting, etc. What objects can you see, get to? Can you dig or get hand-holds/foot-holds? Turn into a fly and look from the vantage points a fly can. Become the fly, butterfly, bug, etc. and view the trapped spot from every angle possible. Could your MC also see what you're seeing? Can you see anything useful for them to use to get out? Can they see it, get to it?

Jox: Yay for writing. Have you made progress with figuring out the name of your LLC?

Trying: I have my MC Zell trapped in slavery again, and he can't know what is happening to his friends. (He will find out, and yes, they will be okay.) This is troubling him a lot, and it is part of the story. It's a motivation for him to take risks.

This works if you decide to stay in close 3rd person (or even 1st person), and you can make your MC take charge somehow. Zell takes charge by interacting with and changing the people who "own" him. It may not seem like much, but it sets things in motion that'll end up changing the lives of everyone on this world.

Some power, huh?

This morning, I made some changes to what I had already written, because I finally figured out a new plot twist. I love how that works out. And I wrote ~600 words before work. emoticon

No. Dang it. I Google if I think of one, and it's used by several companies/websites. I don't know where to draw from. Just open up a dictionary and point? emoticon

I wrote a few pages on a couple of the games.

And yay for writing!

I bought a cover a few days ago, and I'm in love with it. Now I have to get that story into stores.

I'm working my way through my SF trilogy. I'm glad I haven't published it yet, because I'm still tweaking things. Since I restarted working on it, the story has grown a lot - most of it in part 3, which is exactly what should happen.

Yesterday, I wrote 1,767 words, and Zell discovered he has a fangirl.

Rick: That's a lot of writing in a skin. Wow.

Jox: Yay!

I didn't write, as in adding new words to a story. I set up my German blog post and newsletter, however, in my morning. In the afternoon and evening I formatted "Borderline".

I thought I had done that already, but the Jutoh file called "Borderline" had another of my books in it. ("Pu'ukani's Song") I remember I tried experimenting with that. Jutoh refused to import the .mobi I had. Quite frustrating.

So I took another file, saved that as "Borderline", replaced the first 6 chapters with the text from Borderline, deleted everything else, futzed around with the Table of Contents (which threw error messages), fixed a few other error messages, and in the end forgot that I wanted to add the beginning of "Dorelle's Journey" to the ebook. So I'll do that today. *sigh*

Oh, and I updated Jutoh. I'm glad I got all of that done, but it did take a lot of determination.

And my cover designer declined working on the cover for my paranormal romance. *sigh*

I remembered I wanted to add part of Dorelle's Journey to Borderline, so I edited the Jutoh file and compiled the ebook files again. I'm glad that the compilation isn't a problem at all. I may actually go far enough to make Amazon-only and epub-only pages next, so I can add direct download links. I plan to upload the files today...

I figured out what the main villain in my SF tale actually wants and does. Not entirely sure how Zell will find out, but I suppose that'll come up when it's time.

Wrote a few paragraphs this morning. emoticon
