Yep. Making money is important.

I'm trying to forgo chocolate at work. Much harder than I thought. Not sure I want to do that a second week...

Hi guys! The motherboard on my computer quit and I finally managed to buy a new laptop. Hope I didn't miss anything important. I'm still trying to catch up on everything so I'll be back in a few days to talk more. emoticon

I have written 25 of my 30 part interstellar travel saga. If you read any of it I would really like some feedback to incorporate into my editing process. emoticon

Hi guys! emoticon I thought I'd have more time to come on last week, it was suppose to rain but it didn't so I spent my time moving hay and straw bales instead.
We haven't moved yet but are mostly packed which is very frustrating when you need a tool. emoticon Plus Mom packed most of her dishes...emoticon
If I had to describe this year so far in one word I'd say: stressful. First we had roughly a month of solid rain which delayed planting the garden and happened to be when most of the fruit trees and berries were blooming so yeah no fruit. emoticon Then it all dried up and we still haven't gotten anymore moisture. That means the garden [sign in to see URL] and the pastures have been grazed to nubbins. Around late Juneish we had to start scything grass and cutting trees for the sheep, managed to stash a bit of it way for the winter but probably would have doubled or tripled the amount if we hadn't had to start feeding so early.
We have a bit of hay ordered but it won't be enough to feed the 3 cows and 20 sheep we were hoping to keep. So yeah we'll have to see if we can find more... somewhere...
The lack of rain has led to fires everywhere, one that has been burning all summer is around ten miles from us, most nights the smoke rolls in making it very hard to sleep well.
Dad is on disability, kind of, basically the council finally listen to what everyone was saying and looked into what the new boss was doing and everything exploded into a huge, huge mess. Lawsuits, missing forms, money mismanaged. Everyone keeps phoning Dad for help and dragging him back to work so he's still really sore.
To top things off Grandpa, who I love but is very critical, came and stayed for a whole MONTH! And by critical I mean: We built a fence that wasn't perfectly straight and he ripped it out. If we're outside working then we should be inside cleaning, but if we're inside cleaning then we're being lazy and should be outside working. It's enough to drive a person mad!

Anyways we've [sign in to see URL], and are starting to prepare for winter since it's frosted, already. :/
I'm glad to hear you all have been writing! emoticon I'll look at your story Pastor Rick but I'm going to be busy so it might take awhile for me to get back to you.

Oh, dear trying, you've had a rough time.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is good news that the council finally listened and the whole mess got uncovered - but yeah, cleanup is never fun. And your grandfather sounds very difficult. I hope you can keep your sheep and cows - have you found a good place to move to?

*sending much luck and love*

Thanks Firle! No we haven't found a place to move to yet, but we're still looking. We finally got a bit of rain this week so that should help for growing things next year.
We should be able to keep some of the animals anyways, at least the hay isn't as expensive as they thought it would be. 150 dollars for a bale when it's normally 40 is crazy! But they're closer to 60-80 which is more manageable.

How's your writing/self-publishing going? Good I hope!

Glad to hear you'll be able to keep some animals.

I completely rebranded my dragon series this spring because I stopped working with BHC. And I published book #4 in the series, which completes it.

I also published a German novel, one that's been on my hard drive for ages. My Dad prodded me into getting it out.

Right now, I'm procrastinating on cover creation and finishing and publishing an erotic series (under a new pen name), as well as several short stories.

I need to force myself to get my coaching business and my publishing business up and running... emoticon

Meh. Not happy today.

Yesterday, I killed my card reader and a CF card for my camera by pushing it in too hard. It always was difficult to get in, and this time, a pin broke and probably broke the card, as well. I lost a couple of nice moonshots. I keep having trouble taking (and keeping!) pics of the moon.

 emoticon emoticon emoticon

I plan to go downtown today for replacements. *sigh*

Glad to hear you vanquished that cold! Best of luck for everything!

I'm doing NaNo again this year, and making nice progress with the sequel to my German novel.

Totally stuck on creating covers... which is stalling out several stories by now. I need to get over this!

Other than that, well, it's November and getting cold here. First frost on the ground for this winter. On the other hand, it's a beautiful, cloudless day for now. Of course, I'm stuck in the office for the morning. And I caught a cold! Argh.

Lots of hugs for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: 2017 Chat

This morning was a puzzle for me. I wanted to write some more on my sequel, but I also knew I needed to keep editing my first draft. I have figured out the starting point for six of the book's chapters and discovered that so far I write short chapters (10-20 pages each). I changed up a small bit of dialogue to mention another of the minor characters and added a little scene to make one of my "doomed characters" more than a name with a memorable quote. I split some of my longer paragraphs in half to improve readability and pacing.

Today is what others call a regular workday. I call it a short day and hope to add more to "Promises" tonight.

Re: 2017 Chat

I have a bit of a busy day today:

Writing before breakfast - 460 words. Not really good.

Day Job 8:30 to 12:30.

Coaching class (I'm a member): 13:30 - 14:30

Cleaning!

Client session 16:00 to probably 17:30

Writing to get to 2k in NaNo.

Add to those that I have a headcold and feeling quite stuffed. And a brain unwilling to work. I would have loved to call in sick today, but that would have meant cancelling my client, and I hate that. It's her last session today. I'll be okay for the session, I always am.

Oh no! My germs traveled through the internet. Hope you get better soon, Firle! Good luck with NaNo, I can't imagine trying to write that much while sick.
Sounds like you're making good progress, P.R. Did you end up writing in the evening?
I've spent the last week-ish getting the barn ready for winter, thankfully it's held off until now. Getting the sheep ready for shipping, they leave tomorrow, and catching chickens who are happy to be in their new homes.
I've been spending my free time studying story structure and outlining so my brain is fried. emoticon Soon it will be time to put it all into practice!

I did. My schedule gives me a little bit of time in the morning and then another tiny bit of time in the evening. So in the morning, I edit my first draft, and at night I write on my novel's sequel. emoticon

My clients opted out. emoticon emoticon

Yesterday's client forgot about our appointment, and today's sent email to cancel. I can't say I mind too much, as it gives me time to get rid of this cold. At least my throat is no longer sore...

Wrote my 2k for NaNo and I'm officiallly caught up now. That feels good. I'm also giving Konrad the next challenge.

Set up my German EFT blog post and newsletter this morning. Planning to get groceries from Aldi after work, pick up a prescription and some cash on the walk home.

Trying: Where are you shipping the sheep? emoticon Good luck for your story!

Rick: It's awesome to have a fixed schedule and habit for writing. As you can see, you're getting more done that others who have much more time on their hands.

That's great P.K! You're certainly busy!
That's kinda too bad about the clients, Firle, but I hope you're feeling better now. emoticon
Roughly half the sheep trotted off to the market. It went really good, now to see if they sell for enough to pay for all the hay. emoticon
Thanks for the luck! Things are progressing slowly, farm stuff always seems more important, at least to other people...
We're having company over the weekend so talk to you later. emoticon

Trying, good luck with selling the sheep. I hope you'll find the money for the hay. Farming always seems hard... work never ends and money is dear.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

The cold is losing, but it's still annoying. Getting a good night's sleep really helped. Wrestling with NaNo.

I'm also doing more marketing in bits and pieces, getting active on LinkedIn, showing off my Live Videos (it will become a five-video series about writing blocks). Not seeing any results or sales, but ... it's early.

Next week will be a little insane, with three client sessions, two buddy sessions and a dentist appointment. Once I survive that, I'm starting to wind down things for the year end.
