The future book store

Today I got a little nudge and finally put together my thoughts about how bookstores could actually attract readers in the times of Amazon - and wrote a blog post.

The Future Book Store

Feel free to share your thoughts either on the blog or here.

I really like this idea. If I had money to invest, I would definitely attempt something like this.

Thanks! I hardly ever go into bookstores anymore, to be honest. I feel overwhelmed by bookcase of bookcase of, well, books, and a small fantasy/SF section.

Basically, looking through Amazon is easier than dealing with the enormous amount of books I'm not interested in.

So the only thing that would get me back into such places would be a much reduced number of books on display, and much more human interaction. And that's just my personal vision.

Ooh that sounds nice! A library/bookstore where you could print off books that you really liked would be awesome. I really don't like buying books that I've never read, feels like wasting money if i end up not liking the book.

Yeah, that's why I like the review system on Amazon. It has its flaws, but it's much better than just holding a book in hand and wondering if I like it.

And sometimes, I like an ebook enough to want it in print... but I usually don't bother ordering it. In such a bookstore, however, I might get it while I have some lovely tea and chat with friends.
